5、es? Read and find out the reasons.w In old Venice citizens for centuries wore masks in everyday life, not only during carnival times. The reason was simple: Venice was an international and multicultural business town but this unique town was really too small - it was a small community, inside a town

6、 of narrow roads, both of water and stones. As long as you stretch your arm, you can almost touch the opposing houses window. To get somewhere, you had to walk narrow streets or use small boats. Most citizens in Venice knew each other, so it was nearly impossible for them to go to a business meeting

7、, to a friend, to their love or to the casino without being seen. To solve the problem, the use of masks came up. The government even required citizens to wear masks at some political decision-making events when all citizens were required to vote anonymously(匿名地匿名地). On the other side, Citizens of V

8、enice were seamen, merchants and adventurers. They ruled over a big part of the eastern Mediterranean Sea and they were used to the openness and freedom of the sea. So, maybe its not that strange that these people wished to keep the feeling of freedom by wearing masks once they were at home. Why did

9、 Venice people wear masks everyday during old times? People in Venice during old times wore masks to protect their privacy and to keep the feeling of freedom. Nobody takes them off.
