2019年高考英語大一輪復(fù)習(xí) Unit 1 Art課時(shí)作業(yè) 新人教版選修6 Ⅰ. 閱讀理解 A (原創(chuàng))People in Hong Kong speak a rich mixture of languages. Hong Kong was a British colony for more than 156 years before it was returned to Chinese control in 1997. English was the only official language until 1994. Most people in Hong Kong today speak Cantonese, but Mandarin and other dialects also are heard, and English as the British used is still widely spoken and taught here. Now however, many people are choosing to learn English as it is spoken in the United States. Victor Chan, for example, has children who attend school called Nature EQ on Saturday and Sunday, and they are learning to say words the American way. Mr Chan says he wants his sons to learn American English, because he plans to send them to the United States for further study. Nature EQ is one of a growing number of schools in Hong Kong that offer American English classes. Frankie Ng opened the school 17 years ago, at that time, he had only 40 students. Today, the school has 350 students, and it does not have space for any more. Mr Ng says American English is clear and defined. He says it is easy to teach and easily understood. That, however, is not the main concern of the children. Public schools in the former British colony still teach mostly British English. But the number of private language schools teaching American English is growing. In Hong Kong’s Tseung Kwan O district, for example, the American English Workshop school had 20 students a week when it opened one year ago. Today, ithas more than 180 each week. Some observers say American English is being the language of international business. Increased contact with American culture, like movies, television programs, puter games and the Internet is spreading American expressions and accents in areas other than business. But for now, people hearing English in the streets of Hong Kong are mainly hearing traditional British English. “We can understand both, but for what we speak, we speak with the British accent, ”said one local woman. “The British is better I think, ”mented a local man. 【文章大意】多元化的大都市香港現(xiàn)在正興起一股學(xué)習(xí)美式英語的熱潮。 1. And your walk down the way always begins first with a baby step. Why do we call them baby steps? Are they really anything more than our next step down life’s way? Baby steps are the first steps we take as an act of faith. We see others stepping out and we want to show our ability to walk by following them. As we grow, we continue our development by taking extra baby steps. Sometimes we fall; sometimes we fail. After that, all steps bee an act of faith; we just bee more practiced. If you say to yourself“I don’t want to make a fool of myself”or“I’d better be good at this”, you’ll probably never take the baby steps towards your goals and end up lying in your own self-pity. As a culture, we focus on results. We think about every risk that must be taken to reach our goals. There are few people who are excellent performers of any tasks the first time they try them. They fail and succeed. Then, they build upon their abilities learned each time. They practice their skills and use their talents through baby steps before they are ready to prove them to the whole world. So, learn to take those baby steps to reach the goals before you. Know that you can depend on God to show you the way. As you bee more experienced, your baby steps bee a walk, then a jump, and finally a sprint. That’s how our baby steps lead us through the marathon of life. 5. When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your hate. However, forgiveness is possible, and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. People who forgive show less sadness, anger and stress and more hopefulness, according to a recent research. 1 Try the following steps: Calm yourself. 2 You can take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. Don’t wait for an apology. Many times the person who hurt you does not intend to apologize. They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way. 3 Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean being friends again with the person who upset you. Take the control away from your offender(冒犯者). Rethinking about your hurt gives power to the person who causes you pain. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. 4 If you understand your offender, you may realize that he or she was acting out of unawareness, fear, and even love. You may want to write a letter to yourself from your offender’s point of view. Don’t forget to forgive yourself. 5 But it can rob you of your self-confidence if you don’t do it. A. Why should you forgive? B. How should you start to forgive? C. Recognize the benefits of forgiveness. D. Try to see things from your offender’s angle. E. For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge. F. To make your anger die away, try a simple stress-management technique. G. If you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time. 答案: 1~5. BFGDE- 1.請(qǐng)仔細(xì)閱讀文檔,確保文檔完整性,對(duì)于不預(yù)覽、不比對(duì)內(nèi)容而直接下載帶來的問題本站不予受理。
