2019-2020年高中英語 Unit4 The next step Word power教案 牛津譯林版選修11 Thoughts on the design: 本單元word power主要目的是讓學(xué)生了解更多與大學(xué)有關(guān)的內(nèi)容和詞匯,開拓學(xué)生的視野,有效提高學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語的主動性和積極性,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的英語學(xué)習(xí)興趣,改善學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)方式,提高學(xué)生的英語學(xué)習(xí)效果,同時更快地發(fā)展和加強(qiáng)英語知識的運用能力。 Teaching aims: After learning the word power, the students will be able to: 1. know more about university courses and the different titles and positions at university; 2. know more about the abbreviations related to university degrees; 3. use the new words and phrases they have learned to write a report. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead in 1. What subject are you learning now? (Chinese, Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, Geography …) 2. What subject are you particularly interested in? Why? 3. Can you think of more subjects that you can learn in the university? (Finance, engineering …) [Explanation] 通過問學(xué)生他們現(xiàn)在所有的科目讓學(xué)生回顧已學(xué)詞匯, 從低難度出發(fā),增強(qiáng)學(xué)生的自信心。同時,讓學(xué)生自由表達(dá)自己感興趣的學(xué)科來調(diào)動學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)熱情。通過讓學(xué)生對大學(xué)學(xué)科的猜想,了解學(xué)生對大學(xué)學(xué)科的掌握情況, 并且很自然地過渡到本節(jié)課的其中一個主題——大學(xué)課程的分類。 Step 2 University courses 1. Ask students to read part A and answer the questions. (1) If you are interested in business courses, which courses can you study? Economics, Finance, Business, Administration and Accounting. (2) What courses are useful for you, if you want to work in factories? Industrial Engineering and Packaging Engineering. (3) What are the traditional courses and what are included in them? Sciences and arts. Discipline courses The arts English, history, politics, foreign language, law Literature The science Maths, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine (4) What are the other courses that have increased over the last few years? (Sports Science; IT; Film Media Studies; Social Science; Life Science) [Explanation] 通過讓學(xué)生閱讀Part A的一段小短文,使他們在語用環(huán)境下,更多地了解大學(xué)課程的分類以及功用。通過把短文分解成四個小問題的方式來降低文章難度,讓學(xué)生更好地理解大學(xué)課程的分類。 Step 3 Some abbreviations related to university degrees 1. What course is IT short for? Information Technology 2. Besides IT, what other abbreviations do you know? For example, CEO, it refers to Chief Executive Officer即首席執(zhí)行官. 3. Can you guess the meanings of the following abbreviations? Please match them. D. Answers: 1. g 2. a 3. d 4. f 5. b 6. e 7. h 8. c [Explanation] 通過讓學(xué)生猜測出現(xiàn)過的IT的全稱,引出本課的另外一個主題——學(xué)位的縮寫,激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)興趣。讓學(xué)生自己想一些縮寫形式,讓另外一個同學(xué)來猜,充分調(diào)動學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)熱情,寓教于樂。在學(xué)生已有知識水平的基礎(chǔ)上,猜出課文所給的一些學(xué)位的意思。 Step 4 Some titles and positions at a university 1. Can you think about who teach and work at our school and what positions they hold. President—Administration for the school Headmaster assistant—Help deal with issues at school Director—Responsible for each department Teacher—Teaching courses 2. Ask students to refer to the Part B and make a parison. (people who work in the university) President—Deans of faculty—Heads of departments—Professors—Associate Professors—Lecturers—Teaching Assistants [Explanation] 通過讓學(xué)生思考高中有哪些老師和職位的基礎(chǔ)上讓他們進(jìn)一步了解更復(fù)雜的大學(xué)的一些師資情況,并且將兩者對比,以便他們更好地了解大學(xué)的一些運作情況。 Step 5 Practice 1. Ask students to read the passage in Part C and fill in the missing words which they can find in Part A and Part B according to the context. 2. C. Answers: (1) professors (2) lectures (3) President (4) Electronic (5) Civil (6) assistants (7) Information Technology (8) Sports Science (9) Administration 3. Ask students to retell the passage. Please write a report. (Tips: You can prepare your speech from the following aspects: courses, teachers, university life and so on.) Ask them to review what they have learned today. 2. Encourage them to finish the writing task.
